New Project Officer Role

When will HRSA roll out the new Project Officer role, and what should health centers expect?

As previously mentioned, beginning in February, HRSA’s Bureau of Primary Care (BPHC) and the Office of Health Center Program Monitoring (OHCPM) implemented an updated organizational structure that reintroduced individual health center Project Officers (POs). This will be a phased rollout over the coming weeks to months. Each health center will have a dedicated Project Officer as its primary programmatic contact. Additionally, four new divisions (Eastern, Central, Western, and Strategic Support) will provide tailored oversight and engagement. Health centers should check their email inboxes for introductory emails from their newly assigned Project Officer. Email subject line may be as follows: [Center ID Information] Assigned Project Officer Assignment and BPHC Organizational Update.

This restructuring aims to deliver more consistent, strategic, and region-specific support to health centers nationwide.

For general questions pertaining to the Health Center Program, please continue to use the BPHC Contact Form. For time-sensitive matters related to your health center grant, please contact your newly assigned Project Officer. If a time-sensitive or urgent matter arises when your PO is unavailable, feel free to contact their Team Lead.

Proving Program Effectiveness Under Regulatory Scrutiny

Regulators are no longer satisfied with documentation alone; they want evidence that your compliance program actively prevents, detects, and corrects risk. Investigators expect to see how issues are identified early, investigated thoroughly, corrected effectively, and monitored over time. Boards demand measurable insight, and leadership needs confidence that exposure is managed before it becomes a liability. The standard has shifted from activity to impact.
