Department of Labor Guidance for
Employers & Employees during COVID-19

On Monday July 20, 2020 the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage & Hour Division (WHD) announced additional guidance to workers and employers regarding critical issues related under these 3 laws:

  • Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA);
  • Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA);
  • Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act) requires certain employers to provide employees with paid sick leave or expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. The Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD) administers and enforces the new law’s paid leave requirements. These provisions will apply from the effective date through December 31, 2020.
